BaumHaus is an extension of a School and Kindergarten located in the School centre of Oberhofen, Münchwilen. The concept was to create a kindergarten on the ground floor with

an easy access to the playground. The School is raised above the kindergarten and will be surrounded by the remarkable trees which finds place on the southern ground of the site.

The Kindergartens have their entrance from the atrium and the easy access to the green area in the front.

 

The trees have been an characteristic feature at the site since 1990, therefore we came up with the idea building around the threes. Later came the idea of building the school around the trees creating new and good energy for the students. The kindergarten will be placed underneath the roof and raised up by wooden columns which can be related to trunks. The BaumHaus is in the forest, relating to its close context as a transition between inside and outside. Built up and surrounded by a forest of columns, it evokes curiosity and attracts the kids to interact with the building and the surrounding landscape. The new
